Once complete, students will move onto mastering a leather pin cushion (to keep leatherwork needles in), testing their stitching ability, advancing their needlework, and furthering their burnishing, dying and sealing skills. Engineering Challenge
The 2026 Science Buddies Engineering Challenge offers an engaging physics activity that encourages students to think like engineers. The challenge asks students to design and build a ball run from paper and tape that takes as long as possible for the ball to move from start to finish. The Ball Run Challenge invites students to explore motion, energy, and design through hands-on engineering. As they brainstorm ideas, test prototypes, and refine their designs, students will discover how small changes impact performance.
The grand prize is $10,000 and is awarded to the winner's nominated school or not for profit organization. While I will facilitate/supervise and make suggestions, the design and build must be done by the students alone. I will take care of the official entries and ensure that the requirements of the challenge are met.
